Exhibition Robert Sterl/Ernst Edler von Schuch "Stick and pencil"

On 31 May, the doors of the city gallery will open to Robert Sterl and Ernst Edler von Schuch. On the initiative of the Robert Sterl House in Struppen, OT Naundorf and the Family Foundation - Ernst Edler von Schuch, works by the important Dresden artist will be exhibited to mark the 110th anniversary of Ernst von Schuch's death. Drawings, lithographs and paintings can be admired, some for the first time ever. They are complemented by Ernst von Schuch's personal artefacts as well as historical information, documents and images.
Sterl and Schuch were closely connected and many of the painter's works were created directly at the great conductor's concerts. Under the working title "Drawing Pencil and Baton", the modernisers in the visual arts and music reveal painted musical history. Robert Sterl moved on the border between Impressionism and Expressionism and Ernst von Schuch paved the way for great composers of his time to enter the world's opera houses and concert halls. In addition to the Sterl House, great works on loan come from Dresden, Pirna and Görlitz. A catalogue is to be published to accompany the exhibition.
