The long-standing friendship between three men is put to the test when Serge buys a painting. Not just any painting, but a white one with white stripes on it. For a lot, a lot of money. That's art, says Serge. It's shit, says his best friend... The painting becomes the cause of a turbulent, violent and reconciliatory conflict. Three long-time friends, metropolitan neurotics, suddenly see their familiar and sagging relationships in the light of disappointment, career frustration, new attachments and different world views.
