28th Karl May Festival: Winnetou - Chief of the Apaches

"I saw him in the midst of chiefs ... his regal bearing, his free, easy, elastic and yet so proud gait characterised him as the noblest of all. Anyone who took a single glance at him immediately realised that he was dealing with an important man. Around his neck he wore the precious peace pipe, the medicine pouch and a triple chain of grizzly bear claws, which he had killed himself at the risk of his life." This is how Karl May describes his Apache chief - Winnetou. His name means "Burning Water" and his experiences have enchanted millions of readers worldwide.

Imagination and the courage to bring dreams to life are not only what make Karl May's books so unique, but are also at the centre of the Karl May Festival. Visitors are immersed in a fascinating world in which Karl May tells of his travels, Indians provide insights into their culture, scoundrels wreak havoc and heroes fight for good.
