International Day against Violence against Women on 25 November

11.11.2023

  • Auch im letzten Jahr machten die orangefarbenen Schuhe auf den Tag gegen Gewalt an Frauen aufmerksam

We, Zonta Elbland and the city's equal opportunities officer, will be using orange women's shoes to draw attention to femicide (the targeted killing of women because of their gender) on 24 November 2023 from 11.00 to 13.00 in front of the Radebeul Kultur train station in Radebeul-Ost.
The action is based on the art project by Mexican artist Elina Chauvet. Her installation with red shoes from 2009 was created after Elina Chauvet's sister was killed by the beating of her husband. We are thus sending a visible signal of solidarity with women affected by violence. The colour orange is based on the UN Women campaign "Orange the World" and Zonta International.

In addition, Mayor Bert Wendsche, Zonta Elbland and the city's Equal Opportunities Officer are hoisting the Zonta International flag as a visible sign to draw attention to the day of action, 25 November, the Day against Violence against Women.

The flag will fly until 10 December, Human Rights Day.
