Bikeandride box in Kötzschenbroda

Since the end of March 2023, Radebeul's first bike box has been located on Güterhofstraße near Kötzschenbroda railway station.

Bicycles or e-bikes can be securely stored in 12 lockable boxes for a fee and can even be charged in 6 of them.

Mayor Bert Wendsche explains: "The cycling concept adopted in 2022 emphasises the importance of bicycle parking facilities if we want to improve the situation for cyclists and promote cycling as a whole. This is not just about the origins and destinations of cycle traffic, in residential areas, at retail and tourist locations or at schools, but also about the possibility of transferring to local transport. Many commuters use their bikes to get to the S-Bahn station and then continue their journey by public transport. The transport companies, in turn, have an interest in ensuring that bikes are not overloaded in the rail vehicles."

The facility with bicycle boxes that has now been opened at Kötzschenbroda station is an innovation. The cycling concept recommends them in particular as an offer for commuters who combine cycling and rail travel, but also for tourists who, for example, want to explore Altkötzschenbroda without their bike and want to store it safely and charge it at the same time.
