Wine and theatre – a love that has brought people together for millennia:

To mark the 34th Radebeul Autumn and Wine Festival, the International Travelling Theatre Festival once again invites you to an unforgettable encounter with art, culture and indulgence. Under this year’s theme, ‘L’amore’, we celebrate the close intertwining of wine and theatre, which has its origins in antiquity, in the lavish festivals held in honour of Dionysus, the god of wine.

Even back then, plays were an integral part of the Dionysia – magnificent performances that brought myths and legends to life, thrilled the audience and reflected on social issues. The travelling theatre troupes roamed village and market squares as ambassadors of culture, fostering cultural exchange across borders and enriching Europe with their art. Without these vibrant festivals, our cultural landscape today would be significantly poorer.

Since 1996, the heart of this enriching interplay has been beating in Radebeul: for 27 years, the International Travelling Theatre Festival has been weaving the art of theatre together with the autumnal delights of wine. Artists from all over the world transform streets, meadows and courtyards into living stages and invite the audience to become part of the performances. Whether it’s acrobatics, mime, dance theatre, clowning or puppetry – here, visitors experience boundless joie de vivre that transcends all language barriers.

Every year, the Autumn and Wine Festival in Radebeul celebrates a very special moment: the presentation of the coveted Travelling Theatre Award. This unique trophy – lovingly designed by the renowned Radebeul artist Bärbel Voigt – stands not only for outstanding achievements, but also for the warm sense of community within our theatre group.

But the best part is: you , the audience, decide! With your applause and enthusiasm, you award the challenge cup to the group that has moved you the most. The prize is more than just an award – it is an invitation to shine once again on the stage of the Wine Festival next year and to enchant us with unforgettable stories.

At selected performances, ballot papers are handed out on which audience members
can tick to indicate how many stars they’d give our stars.

6 stars = BRAVO! Encore!
5 stars = very good
4 stars = good
3 stars = almost good
2 stars = so-so
1 star = poor

The performance with the highest rating wins.
The trophy can only be awarded to the same theatre artists once.
Previous winners are excluded from the judging.
