The countdown is on

The first stalls are already up on the Anger and the festival weekend is casting its shadow ahead. The 32nd autumn and wine festival in Radebeul-Altkötzschenbroda starts in two days. The artists of the international travelling theatre festival are in the starting blocks and are looking forward to the opening parade on Friday at 5 pm. Together with many artists, the wine god Bacchus and, of course, the Saxon wine sovereigns, Lord Mayor Bert Wendsche will open the festival at 5 pm at the Kuffenhaus with the traditional procession to the church square.

At the wine festival, the fine grape juice will of course be tempting, so travelling by public transport is more than advisable. This is why there is a special bus and train timetable for the weekend. "For a comfortable journey home, additional S-Bahn trains will be running in the direction of Dresden and Pirna on behalf of the Upper Elbe Transport Association (VVO)," says Lutz Auerbach, Head of the Transport Department at VVO. "In addition, Verkehrsgesellschaft Meißen (VGM) will be operating more buses." During the wine festival weekend, additional S-Bahn S1 trains will run between Meißen, Radebeul, Dresden and Pirna on the nights from Friday to Saturday and Saturday to Sunday. "The S-Bahn runs every 30 minutes from Meißen-Altstadt until 11.49 pm," explains Torsten Steyer, Head of Transport Contract Management Saxony at DB Regio Südost. "After that, three more S-Bahn trains depart from the stop in Meißen's old town at 0.19 a.m., 0.53 a.m. and 1.53 a.m. up the Elbe." From Radebeul-Kötzschenbroda, the trains depart around 15 minutes later. A problem-free departure, even late at night, is therefore guaranteed.

We wish all festival visitors a great weekend!
