Historic forest route

Hidden behind dense trees, you can still discover old vineyard walls and terraces on the Historic Forest Route, which bear witness to the former viticulture. After the phylloxera catastrophe in the late 19th century, the vineyards were abandoned and nature gradually began to reclaim its habitat. Various experience stations describe this "vineyard in transition".

The view from the Albrechtshöhe offers a fascinating vista from the Dresden Heath to the Dresden TV tower and Saxon Switzerland.

At the traditional estate and farm "Graue Presse", a display board reminds you of the historic wine press that gave the area its name, which can now be seen in the Hoflößnitz Wine Museum.

On your way along the enchanted Straken forest path, you can still discover remnants of Radebeul's historic water supply.

The Stone Snail can be seen high up on the Ballberg from the lower Hohlweg. In the past, this stone construction probably served as a thief and fire station, today it is the landmark of the "Drei Herren" winery located directly below. From there, you can continue the hike with the Oberlößnitz route.

Tip: An oversized phylloxera sculpture awaits you on the way to the viewpoint at Albrechtshöhe.
