Route Zitzschewig

On the route through Zitzschewig, the steep ascent to Wettinhöhe is rewarded with a picturesque view over Dresden and Radebeul. Along an impressive old oak avenue, you will reach the island of love on Krapenbergweg. From there, it is worth taking a short detour to the two viewpoints on the Zechstein. Experience stations on the dry grassland and the Talut plant, an artistically designed serpentine and binoculars with a direct view into the vineyard bring the vineyard landscape to life. The dry grassland is particularly colourful and attractive when it is in bloom in spring.

On the descent via the Langenbergweg, you follow the traces of the historic water supply. On the educational wine trail along the Zechsteinweg, the various grape varieties and their characteristic features are explained in more detail. Display boards describe the course of the year and the individual stages of work in the vineyard in detail. On Barkengasse you will find the Hohenhaus, a former episcopal vineyard estate, which later passed into aristocratic and private ownership and to which Gerhart Hauptmann created a literary monument in various works.

Tip: Visit St John's Chapel. The small church with its idyllic grounds is often used for weddings.
