City encyclopaedia
Dear readers, dear people of Radebeul,
For the first time in over a hundred years, an attempt has been made to bring together the entire history of our Lößnitz in an encyclopaedia, organised by keyword and sorted alphabetically. Previously, there were only publications that dealt with specific topics or individual districts. A comprehensive reference work for readers interested in local history has been sought in vain.
A working group of volunteer historians, local historians and people interested in local history, led by our town archivist, Mrs Annette Karnatz, dedicated several years to this project. After sifting through the wealth of material, it was necessary to determine the main topics. And so the book contains information on Radebeul personalities, architecture in general and public buildings in particular, special features of the landscape as well as historical developments, club life and, not to forget, the Radebeul economy. A large number of illustrations enrich and illustrate the texts.
The second, slightly revised edition of the Radebeul town encyclopaedia was published on 16 March 2006.
The second edition is out of print. Reading copies can be obtained from the town library or the town archives, for example.
The 3rd edition of the city encyclopaedia is finally here!
At the press conference held on 30 April 2021, the newly published city encyclopaedia was finally presented with the introduction of the Radebeul BürgerApp.
A quarter of the printed edition (print run: 2000 copies) has already been pre-ordered or sold as a voucher.
The price of €49.00 per copy includes an expansion of the content, additional photos and illustrations - and as a special highlight, the online reading version in combination with the Radebeul BürgerApp. After some initial difficulties, you can now browse and read the book from the comfort of your own home on your PC, tablet or smartphone. This is particularly advantageous because, at 950 g, it is no lightweight.
The city encyclopaedia can be purchased at the Radebeul Tourist Information Centre on Hauptstraße 12 during current opening hours.
Of course we can also send the book plus postage (€ 3.50). Please use the order form for this.
We hope you enjoy discovering your home town and would be delighted to receive feedback and criticism.
This book would not have been possible without the work of many volunteers. Thank you very much for this!
