Neighbourhood management

Radebeul's urban structure is bipolar, meaning that Radebeul has two district centres in line with its historical development.

The district centre Radebeul-Ost extends along the main street between Meißner Straße and adjacent areas up to Sidonienstraße/Pestalozzistraße. The district centre is not only characterised by attractive retail, commercial, service, medical and educational facilities. Radebeul-Ost is also the location of the municipal administration. The two tourist attractions of the steam-powered narrow-gauge railway and the Karl May Museum are particularly attractive.

Radebeul-Kötzschenbroda in the western part of the city stretches north-south from Moritzburger Straße via Meißner Straße and Bahnhofstraße to the Altkötzschenbroda village green. The district centre also has numerous owner-managed retail and service outlets.

Altkötzschenbroda in particular has an extensive range of restaurants and bars, making it an inviting place to stroll and linger.

In both district centres, it is the numerous cultural offerings that underline the town centre character in joint activities. A district management team makes a significant contribution to this for both district centres.

Business promotion city budget

At the proposal of the administration, the city council has decided to subsidise businesses from 2025 onwards to the tune of 35,000 euros for five years. The so-called city budget is a modified continuation of the neighbourhood management of the past three years. Experience gained by tradespeople and the city administration in recent years has been incorporated into the evaluations. Transitional funds totalling 17,500 euros are available until 1 January 2025. The aim of the planned utilisation fund is to build on the activities already carried out and to support the commitment of tradespeople and property owners. Half of the planned annual budget of 35,000 euros is available to each of the two centres Radebeul-Ost and Radebeul-West/ Kötzschenbroda. Funds from the budget can be applied for by an institutional organisation (e.g. on an association basis).

The application and settlement of the funds will be low-threshold, so that no great effort is required from those involved. To apply for the funds, the institutional association draws up an annual plan with the financial resources required for personnel and material services. The expenditure must be used for a business-promoting purpose. For this reason, tradespeople must be included in each centre area. The associations are given full responsibility for the budget applied for and can therefore decide freely in future on the use of the funds as in-kind and/or fee-based funding within the framework of the annual plan drawn up. The funding guidelines of the City of Radebeul regulate further conditions and must be applied accordingly.
