Louis Paul & Co, Radebeul ironworks, Sidonienstr. 20/21

In 1883, Ernst Louis founded an iron foundry with an associated machine factory in the Radebeul factory district, which specialised in the manufacture of auxiliary kitchen machines such as grating, peeling and cleaning machines and cast-iron heating and cooking ovens. The company had its own railway siding right from the start. The workforce grew almost continuously to up to 275 workers in 1921 and the products were in demand at home and abroad. In its heyday at the beginning of the 1920s, up to 30 tonnes of grey cast iron were processed every day. During the global economic crisis, the factory went bankrupt, but was reopened in 1933 as an employee-run limited company. During the Nazi era, the company had to fight hard against political and economic pressure to close the factory and make room for the expansion of neighbouring companies....
