Winery Steffen Schabehorn

Wine production has been a family tradition of the Schabehorns for over 400 years. What started out as a sideline became the Steffen Schabehorn winery directly on the Saxon Wine Route in 2000. In the vineyards "Meißner Kapitelberg", "Proschwitzer Katzensprung", and "Weinberg am Weingut" the varieties Müller-Thurgau, Riesling, Bacchus and Kerner as well as the red wine varieties Pinot Noir, Regent and Dornfelder are cultivated.

For 15 years, the winegrower has focussed exclusively on organic cultivation.

He is also the only winegrower in the region whose entire range is 100% vegan. None of the usual animal by-products are added in the production process, but are completely replaced by plant-based alternatives.

Every year, around 20,000 bottles are bottled and matured in the winery's own cellar.

Schabehorn has also made a name for himself with his excellent sparkling wine from his own production. He uses his Riesling grapes for this using the traditional bottle fermentation method.
