Radebeul Walpurgis fire
In honour of St. Walpurga, the patron saint against coughs, plague and rabies, a festival has been held since ancient times on the night of the first day of May. The flames of a great fire are said to drive away the spirits of winter and avert the " evil eye". The witches dance to the glow of spring and the townspeople celebrate Walpurgis into May.
