Miss Else
Play development based on Arthur Schnitzler
World premiere
The lawyer's daughter Fräulein Else is spending a few days on holiday in a spa town in Trentino when she receives an express letter from her mother. The family is threatened with financial ruin unless someone lends her father 30,000. The only remaining hope is the art dealer Dorsday, who is also staying at the spa. When Else, summoning up all her courage and overcoming her own shame, asks the older man for the loan, he confronts the 19-year-old with an unexpected condition: He would give her the money if he could look at Else naked for a quarter of an hour ...
Based on motifs from the novella published in 1924, their own experiences and contemporary discourses, the production team and the actors develop the play and examine which images of women between Viennese modernism and the present collide on the naked female body.
