GEZ`s Still ?

Television is an outstanding invention of modern times. For around 100 years, screens have been flickering in front of impatient viewers who, armed with beer and crisps, settle down in soft armchairs and "consume" everything that is broadcast. That doesn't make us any healthier. It's not for nothing that the main song of the programme is called "TV sickness"

People have a "horror" of the GEZ fee that they have to pay quarterly for the ÖRR programmes, such as ARD, ZDF, MDR and others. How can you be exempted from the fee, what possibilities are there to trick the contribution service, as it has recently been called? Do you have to "go blind" first?

The broadcasters of the ÖRR live very richly from the fees and managers and directors treat themselves to high salaries and commissions. There's not much left over for the productions. Actors go to the jungle camp to keep their heads above water. Savings are being made everywhere. It's logical that a litre of engine oil for your SUV is more expensive than a litre of film blood.

Television makes people stupid if they are not careful to switch off regularly. Television is used to scare people. Have you ever counted the number of dead bodies that are shown on German television every month? But please, crime films are educational television for our youth.

The weather report must support green politics. Fear is being spread, fear of drought, fear of storms, fear of cold and heat. Fear is spreading because the weather is like an attack dog running through the park with its master. And in the morning, the MOMA viewers on ARD can't get their bread rolls stuck in their throats when they see the deep red weather map at 10 degrees plus.

Advertising takes centre stage because advertising brings in money. And if the GEZ fee isn't enough, then they advertise sanitary towels and nappies for men, even if the ratings plummet at the sight of the fat lady on the ice. Naked "goths" ride through the countryside on their bikes and advertise pain gel. I think it's more the viewers who have to endure the pain.

And when you go to bed at night, you don't really know what the film was called anymore, because the countless commercial breaks are unsettling and drag the film out to an insane length.

The programme is rounded off with songs by Roland Kaiser, Udo Jürgens, Howard Carpendale or Die Münchner Freiheit, of course with their own thought-provoking lyrics. I wish you "Fernsehen ohne Leichen" or "Ohne Dich schlaf ich heutacht nicht ein", a song for the modern TV specialist who is guaranteed to put you to sleep without sleeping pills while watching the talk shows on ARD or ZDF.
