Cabaret
Musical | Book by Joe Masteroff based on the play »I am a camera« by John van Druten and story by Christopher Isherwood
Music by John Kander | Lyrics by Fred Ebb | Version by Chris Walker
When the writer Clifford Bradshaw travels to Berlin, he has no idea what awaits him there. Above all, he only later realises the role of Ernst Ludwig, the German with the mysterious suitcase. Would he have made friends with him if he had known which side Ernst was on? The world of the cabaret fascinates and irritates Clifford in equal measure. Just like the cheeky Sally Bowles, whom he meets on his first night at the cabaret and with whom he immediately falls in love. Will he be able to protect her from the dangerous developments in Berlin?
In the successful musical by John Kander and Fred Ebb from 1966, a story about Berlin in the late 1920s unfolds for the audience against the backdrop of the rise of National Socialism, with everything that goes with it: love, passion and a good dose of humour.
