Extra audio story: Weißflog permanent baked goods

At the end of the fifties, the Weißflog permanent baked goods factory was added. With a total of around 300 employees, the three parts of the factory now produced around 2,100 tonnes of wafers and 165 tonnes of wheat biscuits. The export share was around 30 %.

From the beginning of the 1960s, Waffelfabrik Radebeul was the leading company in the long-life baked goods product group at district level and acted as a state shareholder in the semi-state-owned companies Max Gerhardt KG Dresden and Wilsdruffer Waffelfabrik KG. In 1964, the company was separated from the local industry, placed under the control of the district economic council and assigned to the state-owned Kombinat Dauerbackwaren. The parent company was reprivatised in 1990 as Dauerbackwaren mbH and taken over by Bahlsen KG Hannover. The company was shut down in 1992.
