Museum of Lies closes on 31 August 2024

16.08.2024

The operator of the Museum of Lies, Reinhard Zabka, and Lord Mayor Bert Wendsche discussed the future of the Museum of Lies on 12 August 2024. Both sides explained their positions and discussed options for the future of the Museum of Lies.

By order of the city, the Lügenmuseum must cease operations on 31 August 2024 until further notice. The cancellation of the lease remains in place. However, the city council has granted the museum an extension until 31 March 2025. The Serkowitz inn will be put up for sale this year. The extension of the lease also serves to ensure that the possibility remains open in the context of the tender that the continued existence of the Lügenmuseum can be secured by the operators.

Quote OBM, e.g.: "Mr Zabka, like all other interested parties, will then have the opportunity to submit a bid and thus continue the work of the Museum of Lies."

Reinhard Zabka, inventor and operator of the Museum of Lies, has announced that he will submit a bid to purchase the inn as part of the tendering process. According to Zabka, a significant proportion of the funds for this are already available. The extension of the deadline now provides time to acquire the missing funds.

Reinhard Zabka says: "I am very unhappy about the city's decision to close the museum. In the last few weeks in particular, many visitors have once again come to the museum. We have documented over 60 letters of support on our website. I understand the anger of the city and the Lord Mayor and have expressed this in discussions with the Lord Mayor. I very much hope that we will be able to secure the Museum of Lies in the Serkowitz Inn in the long term by following the path we have now discussed. I would like to expressly thank the Lord Mayor Bert Wendsche and the city of Radebeul for their support so far."
