Art Prize of the Great District Town of Radebeul
Radebeul has traditionally been a place of residence and work for many artists, which is why the wine and garden town is often mentioned as a city of art and culture.
The Lord Mayor of Radebeul endows the "Art Prize of the Great District Town of Radebeul" to cultivate and promote achievements in contemporary art. The Art Prize can be awarded to artists, ensembles with recognised artistic work and activities or art promoters or art organisers with a recognised impact.
The persons or ensembles to be honoured must have their life or creative focus in Radebeul, have influenced and promoted the Radebeul art scene or be creators or promoters of works that are of particular artistic significance for Radebeul.
The art prize is generally awarded every two years. The jury may decide not to award the art prize.
Proposals for the award can be submitted to the Radebeul city council up to 6 months before the award ceremony. The proposals must be substantiated as comprehensively as possible.
The painter and graphic artist Michael Hofmann was awarded the Radebeul Art Prize on 26 October 2024 for his extensive artistic work.
