Luther Church

  • Lutherkirche

The Luther Church at Kirchplatz 1 was built as part of the rapid population growth in the last third of the 19th century and the endeavour to separate from the mother church in Kaditz. The foundation stone was laid in 1891 and the work was carried out by the Serkowitz-based company Eisold and Rudolf Baron from Dresden.

The "Radebeul Church" was officially consecrated in 1892. The building combines medieval style elements with German Renaissance forms and offers space for around 1,000 people. The congregation quickly grew from 5,500 to around 13,000 worshippers. The three bronze bells delivered in 1890 were melted down for defence purposes in 1917 and replaced by cast steel bells in 1920.

The church was remodelled in 1934 and given its current name.
