Route Wackerbarth

On the route around Schloss Wackerbarth, you can experience wine in all its facets. The adventure winery not only invites you to enjoy wine in its own restaurant and at cultural events in the park, but also provides information on display boards about the work behind the finished wine.

The Belvedere, with the romantic terraces in front of it, gives you a feeling of the courtly, baroque lifestyle that Count von Wackerbarth once enjoyed here.

The ascent to Jacobstein leads through the vineyards and offers a sweeping view over the Elbe valley. The "Best Wine View 2012" offers a magnificent view of Wackerbarth Castle, the baroque gardens and the Belvedere, the centrepiece of the ensemble.

The observatory also takes up the theme of wine and vividly describes the special significance of the sun for viticulture. Due to the typical steep slopes, the sun is at a suitable angle to enable the cultivation of wine even in more northerly regions. This allows the grapes to ripen optimally, especially on beautiful autumn days.

On a short detour to the quarry at Himmelsbusch, you can admire nature in all its diversity. Many endangered and almost extinct plant species can be found here and reveal their full beauty, especially during the flowering season.

Tip: The Saxon state winery Schloss Wackerbarth offers daily guided tours that provide an insight into wine and sparkling wine production. During a subsequent guided tour, you can enjoy the variety of flavours and the character of the wines with all your senses.
