Presentation of the Moritz Ziller Prize

18.10.2023

Invitation to all citizens to the Technical Town Hall on Saturday, 28 October 2023, 4.30 pm

On Saturday, 28 October 2023, Lord Mayor Bert Wendsche and First Mayor Dr Jörg Müller will award the Moritz Ziller Prize of the City of Radebeul for the fifth time in the Technical Town Hall. The Technical Town Hall at Pestalozzistraße 8 opens at 4.00 pm and the event begins at 4.30 pm. Following the announcement and honouring of the prize winners and musical accompaniment by the Meißen District Music School, the exhibition of all 18 submitted works will be ceremoniously opened.

The theme of the competition was what Meißner Strasse could look like in the future as an urban space for all citizens, and that it could be more than just a thoroughfare. The results were completely different approaches, small immediate measures as well as large-scale designs for the future. Something can be gleaned from all the works that could become important for the future handling of the street.

The large district town of Radebeul usually awards the Moritz Ziller Prize every three years as part of an ideas competition to give students and graduates of architecture, landscape architecture and urban planning the incentive and opportunity to contribute to solving problems in these disciplines and to spread progressive ideas in these fields with an "outside perspective" and develop good ideas for the future.

The prize is named in memory of the Ziller family of master builders, who had a significant influence on urban planning and garden culture in the area that is now Radebeul in the 19th century. Moritz Ziller was also co-founder and, from 1880 to 1892, chairman of the Lößnitz Beautification Association. He rendered great services to the development of the Lößnitz communities both as a successful entrepreneur and in an honorary capacity.
