The Radebeul citizen app went online on the first of May 2021 and is therefore currently celebrating its first birthday. It's time to say thank you to all users, all reviewers and, of course, those who provided information on topics that were and are still in need of optimisation. "It's great to see that our idea of a citizens' app has been so well received," says Mayor Bert Wendsche happily, taking stock: "The aim was to provide all citizens with a quick, low-threshold information service, independent of social media accounts or a subscription to a daily newspaper, in addition to the existing other services such as the official gazette or the website. The Radebeul official gazette is published monthly, which does not work for short-term topics. Although the website offers every conceivable piece of information on the work of the city council, it is also very extensive and therefore a little more difficult to find information. The Radebeul citizen app, on the other hand, offers up-to-date information at a glance - specially optimised to the needs of Radebeul residents - and, if desired, this can also be delivered "to your door" via push notification," says the Lord Mayor.

In addition to current topics, the app also offers a genuine interface to the council information system, in which all documents for the city council and committees are posted. Users can view the documents a week before each meeting and can also be notified of new documents via push notification if they wish. "As far as we know, this is a unique selling point in the municipal app landscape and offers maximum transparency and information content for all interested citizens. Before the app was introduced, the number of hits, especially on city council documents, was in the low double-digit range. At the end of 2021, they were in the 5-digit range thanks to the app. This is a great success, which we had hoped for, but which ultimately surprised us a little in this clarity," says Lord Mayor Bert Wendsche.

Since then, the Radebeul citizen app has been continuously developed and expanded to include new, sometimes temporary, functions. Currently, users can also find information on the election of the Lord Mayor or Ukraine aid for the twin city of Obukhiv, for example.

New online applications from Office 24 are currently available. Users can now use the app to request birth certificates, marriage, civil partnership and death certificates as well as apply for tree felling and access to the register of building encumbrances without having to make a trip to the office.

"In addition, we continue to welcome feedback from users or reviews, which helps us to adapt the app even better to the wishes and needs of users," says Bert Wendsche
