Radebeul LebensArt 2020
03.06.2020
With a composition of wine culture, theatre, puppetry and Karl May, "Radebeuler LebensART" combines all those cultural areas that make Radebeul famous far beyond the city limits. The picturesque vineyards of Oberlößnitz are included in the project, as are the historic village green of Altkötzschenbroda, the cultural railway station in Radebeul Ost and the Karl May Museum. At the same time, all those traditional festivals and events that have been an integral part of Radebeul's cultural calendar for decades but unfortunately cannot take place in their usual setting this year - the Karl May Festival Days, the Radebeul Punch and Judy Show and the Open Winery Days - will be cited and included.
The various formats, which are summarised under the umbrella term "Radebeuler LebensART", are intended to slowly and gradually stimulate public and social life again and provide impetus for the revival of cultural life in public spaces. After weeks of restrictions and isolation, it is once again possible to spend time outdoors, enjoy wine and culture and leave everyday life behind for a while. Visitors can experience open-air performances, street theatre and street music in a wide variety of locations, which entertain, edify and stimulate the imagination, while at the same time inviting people to move around and change locations to avoid large crowds.
In the district centres of Radebeul-West and Radebeul-East, wine boulevards with cabaret offerings take place every 14 days. Local winegrowers offer their wines along the Altkötzschenbroda village green and the main street, while local restaurateurs and tradespeople open their doors to guests.
Wandering street musicians provide pleasant entertainment on the promenades, short theatrical shows performed from windows bring moments of surprise to the market, picnics de la Musica are organised in the orchards and children test their skills in a rope play area between the fruit trees.
On the two weekends in Radebeul-Ost, puppet theatre performances will take place on small open-air stages at various venues in the style of the traditional Punch and Judy show.
Further events are planned on Bahnhofstrasse, in the vineyards, at the observatory, in the Karl May Grove and in private artists' gardens.
A colourful market with a fresh produce market invites visitors to Bahnhofstraße on Saturdays.
As part of the "KulTour", local winegrowers and wineries will open their farms. Various bands set musical accents at different locations.
The Landesbühnen Sachsen will present theatrical and musical programmes at the Wackerbarth State Winery and the Hoflößnitz Winery.
Karl May himself will give entertaining readings in the Karl May Grove. In a cosy atmosphere, visitors to Radebeul can immerse themselves in the world of Karl May with Robby Langer.
In cooperation with the Stadtgalerie Radebeul, various artists from Radebeul will allow visitors to visit their gardens and present their works in the open air with "Kunst geht in Gärten".
Under the title "Traumfabrik", the Radebeul Observatory will be showing selected films as an open-air event, with local musicians providing the musical backdrop to the evenings.
