  • Stadtwerke Elbtal GmbH

Stadtwerke Elbtal GmbH warns against unsolicited telephone calls and the conclusion of door-to-door sales. Over the past few days, customers from Radebeul and Coswig have informed us that they have received unsolicited calls or visits from con artists. The scammers are making false claims in an attempt to persuade people to switch electricity suppliers. Therefore our statement

1. false statement:
" Stadtwerke Elbtal GmbH is insolvent and therefore Vattenfall is stepping in as energy service provider."

Correct:
Stadtwerke Elbtal is a very stable and strong energy supplier that generates good profits every year. As the majority of the municipal utilities are owned by the towns of Radebeul and Coswig, the profits generated directly benefit the citizens: e.g. for financing the operating costs for the swimming pools and sports facilities in Radebeul or for culture in Coswig. We also expect a good annual result in 2019. Our banks regularly confirm our good credit rating and, of course, we pay all our bills on time.

2nd False statement:
"Stadtwerke Elbtal is being taken over and therefore all contracts would have to be rewritten."

Correct:
Stadtwerke Elbtal is a municipal company. The cities of Radebeul and Coswig hold 51 % of the shares via Elbtal Beteiligungsgesellschaft, the city of Dresden holds 30 % via EnergieVerbund Dresden GmbH and Thüga AG holds 19 %. This structure has been stable for years and is characterised by great trust between the partners. Therefore, no changes are planned. New contracts are not necessary.

3. false statement:
"Signing is not a change of supplier".

Correct:
Signing confirms the change of provider. Therefore, check the offers thoroughly without time pressure and do not sign anything.

Caution. It is recommended to check offers thoroughly without time pressure and not to sign anything prematurely. The customer advisors at Stadtwerke Elbtal GmbH can be contacted on the free service telephone number: 0800 7702651 and in the customer advice offices in Radebeul and Coswig. Furthermore, the website www.stadtwerke-elbtal.de provides information on the current electricity prices of the municipal utility.
