IKEBANA - the Japanese art of flower arranging

IKEBANA combines the meditative use of natural materials (flowers, branches, etc.) with the creative design of aesthetically sophisticated arrangements in the spirit of Japanese culture, and offers the opportunity to escape the hectic pace of everyday life by focussing on the essentials. In the course we will create three IKEBANA arrangements and you will gain a basic knowledge of IKEBANA as an art form, its origins and history.
Please note:
The costs for the high-quality plants used are included in the course price. Please bring along: Rose/garden scissors, writing utensils and coloured pencils, small towel or tea towel; if available: Kenzan (flower hedgehog), suitable containers. IKEBANA pots and other auxiliary materials will be provided for the duration of the lesson. The aim of the class is the flower path (KADO) and you will be taught how to copy it. The creations will be dissolved at the end of the course, only the loose natural materials can be taken home.
