Saxony State Theatre
Saxony's largest touring theatre offers an extensive programme all year round with around 600 performances in one season at its main theatre in Radebeul, on the numerous side stages throughout Saxony and at the Felsenbühne Rathen. The multi-genre theatre, which has existed since 1945 and is headed by artistic director Manuel Schöbel, performs well-known operas and operettas. The theatre has been collaborating with the Elbland Philharmonie Sachsen since 2012. The dance ensemble enriches the challenging programme of the Landesbühnen with its exciting dance evenings by choreographer Carlos Matos. The theatre ensemble under the direction of Peter Kube offers classical and contemporary plays that appeal to all age groups. The programme ranges from tragedies to comedies and musicals.
At the Felsenbühne Rathen, the Landesbühnen Sachsen has been committed to Karl May, Radebeul's most famous resident, for many years. Of course, the legendary "Freischütz" by Carl Maria von Weber and many productions for children are an integral part of the programme in Rathen.
