Revontulet Lights of the sky

Event for young people and adults

A sensual journey to the Northern Lights

Revontulet, or fox fire, is what the Finnish Sami call the Northern Lights after the old belief that a fire fox cools itself in the snow, spraying sparks from its tail and ribs into the snow. Even today, the lights in the sky play a prominent role in Nordic music, literature and mythology. The scientific name for the phenomenon is Aurora Borealis. Alexander von Humboldt was one of the first to scientifically study the aurora borealis on his travels through Siberia. Follow us on a journey north in the planetarium, with lifelike auroras, texts by Humboldt and music from this landscape.
