August Koebig machine factory, Meißner Straße 17

Maschinenfabrik August Koebig was founded in Dresden in 1890 by August Ferdinand Koebig as a "factory for the manufacture of paper processing machines". In 1894, the company moved to the Radebeul industrial estate on what was then Leipziger Straße with a workforce of 16 employees. The scope of production included machines for paper processing and finishing as well as, initially, aniline and gravure printing machines. Later, specialised equipment was manufactured for the photographic, film and rubber industries as well as for textile finishing. Around 85% of the products were exported. The workforce grew steadily to 290 employees until the Second World War. New factory buildings were erected in 1937.
