Carl Auerbach machine factory, Gartenstraße 34

  • 8190 Auerbach

In 1875, Carl Richard Auerbach founded a metalworking and repair workshop in Dresden, which he later moved to Fabrikstraße 3. In addition to locksmith work, the growing company was involved in the manufacture of universal grating and cutting machines for bakeries, confectioners and canteen kitchens, as well as the production of poppy seed mills for the expanding food industry. The products had a good reputation on the world market. Due to the company's expansion, the property at Gartenstrasse 34 was acquired and production began there in newly built production halls from October 1918. After the death of the company founder, his wife initially took over the company. Later, his sons led the company through the Great Depression. They re-established contact with foreign countries and boosted exports. The product range was expanded to include small steam turbines, marzipan presses and special machines for soap production, fig coffee production and for the asbestos and packaging industries.
