This morning at 6.00 a.m., the aid transport set off in the direction of the Polish-Ukrainian border.

10 vehicles, including 4 fire engines, a bus from Landesbühnen Sachsen and several private vehicles are transporting urgently needed medical supplies to the border. 20 helpers accompany the transport, which is reloaded onto lorries from the Ukrainian twin town of Obukhiv at the border.

The relief supplies, worth a high five-figure sum, were collected with the support of the Elblandkliniken, the Diakonissenkrankenhaus Dresden and Johanniter Auslandshilfe, among others. Many private donations completed the load.

Lord Mayor Bert Wendsche, who saw off the transport this morning with his best wishes: "I would like to say a huge thank you to all supporters, companies and donors! The willingness to help is overwhelming."

On the way back, Ukrainian refugees, including some from the Ukrainian twin town of Obukhiv, will be taken to Radebeul.

As of 3 March 2022, €28,911.75 has been credited to the municipal donation account. Many people have also volunteered for translation services.
