Simplification for families with newborns
Since the beginning of 2024, families have been receiving a welcome letter from the family benefits office with a QR code immediately after the birth of their child. This leads directly to the largely pre-filled online application for child benefit via a personal access code. The application can then be submitted completely paperless. It is not necessary to enclose any supporting documents.
Families no longer have to take the initiative themselves. They will automatically receive a letter from the family benefits office shortly after the child is born.
Digital services facilitate access to benefits
The Family Benefits Office's services should reach all those entitled to benefits and be easily accessible. That is why the Family Benefits Office is continuously expanding its online services. Applications for child benefit and child supplement can be submitted completely online via BundID. The preferred method of identification can then be selected there (e.g. ELSTER, eID). All notifications and supporting documents can be submitted directly online.
