Reopening of the Radebeul-West municipal library

15.02.2024

After seven weeks of closure, the Radebeul-West municipal library reopened its doors to readers on 12 February - just in time for the start of the winter holidays.

In the first week of January, the staff had to pack around 13,000 media items. With the help of the town's caretakers, shelves and furniture were cleared out. A total of 135 boxes were packed. In the last few weeks, the tradesmen took over - the old floor had to be removed and new cables were laid. Painting work, fitting lamps and laying new flooring were now on the programme.

Colleagues from the Radebeul - West library supported the staff at the Radebeul Kultur-Bahnhof during this time. After just five weeks, earlier than planned, it was possible to start clearing up again. The staff used the time gained to make small changes to the media display. All the shelves were cleaned and new seating was purchased and installed.

The result is impressive: the rooms are better lit thanks to a light measurement and new lighting. The new wall and floor colours make the library appear brighter and friendlier. The staff are delighted with the successful remodelling and hope that readers will also enjoy the new ambience.
