"When Saxony's schoolchildren are on holiday, many regional bus routes are also less frequent, as the most important passengers are absent," explains Burkhard Ehlen, Managing Director of the Upper Elbe Transport Association (VVO). "However, our PlusBus and TaktBus routes are not going on holiday and will continue to run at their usual frequency in the coming weeks."

19 PlusBus routes in the VVO run every hour from Monday to Friday. At least six journeys per direction are offered on Saturdays and at least four on Sundays and public holidays. A further five TaktBus lines connect smaller towns with the nearest centres and run every two hours, including on Saturdays and in the early evening. In contrast to other regional bus routes, which are primarily geared towards school transport and therefore run less frequently during the holidays, these routes also run at regular intervals on school-free days. They also offer short transfer times to trains and other important bus connections.

The dense service is financed by the districts, the Free State of Saxony and the VVO. PlusBuses in the VVO have been connecting the state capital of Dresden with Altenberg, Großenhain, Hetzdorf, Nossen, Pulsnitz and Sebnitz, among others, for several years now. PlusBuses also connect Kamenz with Bautzen, Hoyerswerda with Cottbus and Bischofswerda with Radeberg. Six other lines serve the region around Meißen and the Eastern Ore Mountains.

Timetable information and all details are available daily on the VVO InfoHotline on 0351 8526555 and on the Internet at www.vvo-online.de/plusbus as well as from the transport companies.
