Start of construction work on Bahnhofstrasse

Construction work to renew the pavements on the northern Bahnhofstrasse will start next Monday.

In addition to the groundwork for the terraced, elevated pavements along the street, the construction work also includes the renewal of elements of the open space and street furniture (benches, bicycle racks, media bollards, etc.).

The pavements will be extended to Bahnhofsplatz and Harmoniestraße in a unified design. The historic soap paving is to be reused. Additions will be made of small granite paving with a sawn, bush-hammered surface finish.

The total construction length is approx. 260 metres.

The measure is being coordinated with the following utility companies:

• Radebeul water and wastewater supply for the renovation of house connection pipes and public lighting
• Stadtwerke Elbtal for the renewal of gas service lines
• Gasline for the realisation of a telecommunications route

The implementation of the measure is planned from the 22nd calendar week until probably December 2021.

The company Steinsetz- und Straßenbaubetrieb Jens Hausdorf GmbH (01561 Thiendorf OT Kleinnaundorf) has been commissioned to carry out the work. The contract is worth around EUR 280,000.

The costs of the construction project are 100% eligible for funding under the federal and state programmes "Active Town and District Centres" (SOP) / "Vibrant Centres" (LZP). Two thirds of the funding comes from federal and state grants and one third from the city of Radebeul's own contribution.

In order to maintain pedestrian access on one side of the pavement at all times, the pavements will be closed in sections. In addition, efforts will be made to ensure safe pedestrian access to the shop and building entrances as well as the S-Bahn platform during the entire construction period. For the road traffic areas of Bahnhofstrasse, it will be necessary to close one side of the road in sections. One lane of Bahnhofstraße from Meißner Str. will be kept open as a one-way street for private motorised traffic.
