In order to comply with the legal and hygiene regulations for organising events, detailed long-term planning is required. The town of Radebeul has decided to move the Karl May Festival to the summer so that all participants can plan with certainty and all visitors can enjoy a carefree visit to the festival.

From 9 to 11 July 2021, visitors to the Karl May Festival will once again be able to immerse themselves in the Wild West for three days, gain insights into foreign cultures and follow Winnetou's great dream.

The Karl May Festival takes place every year on the weekend after Ascension Day. The idea for the festival originated in 1992 from a star ride organised by the Karl May stages to celebrate Karl May's 150th birthday, during which the riders also passed through Radebeul.
The festival is organised by the town of Radebeul and attracts around 30,000 visitors every year.
