On 8 January 2020, the Radebeul fire brigade took possession of a brand new command vehicle (ELW 1). This will be housed in the Radebeul-Ost district fire brigade in future.
The vehicle can be used to transport a maximum of 4 firefighters to the scene of an emergency. However, this vehicle offers a total of 6 workstations for working as a command unit, of which 2 workstations are available in a separate room for information and communication tasks.
The chassis comes from MAN. The vehicle interior was realised by Fahrzeugausbau Fischer GmbH from Dresden. The extensive communication technology with telephone, fax and the two separate communication workstations was supplied by SELECTRIC Nachrichten-Systeme GmbH.
The rest of the equipment and the load was procured directly by the city administration.
With €42,000 in funding from the Free State of Saxony, the total cost of the ELW 1 is around €158,000.
With this new command and control vehicle, the Radebeul fire brigade is now better equipped for the relevant operational tasks as well as for coordinating safety issues at our two major municipal festivals, the Karl May Festival and the autumn and wine festival.
