J.W. Hofmann KG, Fabrikstraße 27
In 1902, the engineer Johannes Wilhelm Hofmann founded a factory for electrical equipment in Kötzschenbroda at Meißner Str. 12, where the rivet connectors he had invented were manufactured. They significantly simplified the construction of overhead electrical lines. The products, which won numerous awards, e.g. the gold medal at the World Exhibition in St. Louis, were widely distributed internationally. In 1920, the construction of a significantly larger factory began on Fabrikstraße. In the 1930s, Johannes Wilhelm Hofmann, JWH for short, supplied all high-voltage fittings and around 75% of all connecting materials for cables and wires in Germany. As JWH did not manufacture any armaments during the Second World War, the company was neither dismantled nor expropriated after 1945....
