Nice bath

On 1 October 1908 - exactly 100 years ago - Hermann Schrapel founded the spa "Nizza-Bad" in Radebeul - Oberlößnitz. It was located at what is now Maxim-Gorki-Straße 21 (then Kronprinzenstraße 5 and in between Russenstraße 21). It all began with a few tubs for spa and cleansing baths as well as physical treatments (e.g. massages, red and blue light). The people of Radebeul were very happy to accept the offer. The doctors issued prescriptions for their patients with the remark: "Go to Schrapels" in the Nizza-Bad.
The building capacity was soon no longer sufficient and in 1926 an extensive extension and remodelling took place. A laundry was also built, which had to be extended in the 1960s. The owners of the facility and the entire workforce were a close-knit team. In addition to work, they also celebrated parties together and went on company outings.
Today, the buildings house flats. the main building with the well-known tower-like rotunda was a listed building until the 1990s - to the delight of the descendants.
