Invitation to public participation for the Radebeul-West forest park concept
21.06.2021
The Radebeul-West forest park is categorised as a forest with the main tree species oak, black locust, pine and maple in accordance with the Saxon Forest Act. In particular, it has climate protection
and recreational functions and is located in a landscape conservation area.
In recent years, many trees have had to be felled due to age and several dry summers. The open areas were colonised by undesirable species or remained bare. Added to this was the bark beetle, which attacks the pine trees.
This was another reason why it became necessary to think about the future design of the forest park. In addition to the nature conservation aspects of the forest, the historical design as a forest park should also be considered and revitalised in parts.
In April 2019, Evergreen Dresden was commissioned to develop a concept for the forest park and completed the work at the end of 2020.
This concept is divided into immediate measures that can be realised with simple means (slope stabilisation, pathways, planting) and longer-term measures that restore the park's character (rhododendron park, park by the pond, path construction).
The main path of the forest park is also to become part of Radebeul's cycle path network. The overall concept is structured in such a way that citizens can also participate in the maintenance and design with simple tasks. The city council is therefore very keen to discuss this concept at an early stage. We welcome many suggestions and ideas.
The forest park concept can be viewed from 21 June to 16 July 2021 at the Technical Town Hall at Pestalozzistrasse 8. Ms Seidel and Mr Kürzel from the >> Urban Greenery Department will be available to answer your questions during this time by appointment.
