Line birthday on the Lößnitzgrund railway

11.09.2020

On 19 and 20 September, the Lößnitzgrundbahn invites you to celebrate the line's birthday with additional trips. 136 years ago, on 15 September 1884, the narrow-gauge railway between Radebeul Ost, Moritzburg and Radeburg began operations. On the anniversary weekend, historic trains, a photo tour, information stands, trolley rides and entertainment for children in Moritzburg will provide variety on the line.

"We are delighted that we can be in Moritzburg for the anniversary weekend and will have a craft street, our bag printing and some games on site so that young visitors will also get their money's worth," explains Gabriele Clauss from the Upper Elbe Transport Association (VVO). "Together with the Sächsische Dampfeisenbahn (SDG), the Traditionsbahn Radebeul and Regionalverkehr Sächsische Schweiz-Osterzgebirge, we also have excursion tips for the autumn."

"On the rails, the birthday starts on Friday with a special train," adds Mirko Froß, SDG's railway operations manager. "The specially organised photo train will depart from Radebeul in the early afternoon and stop en route for photo stops and mock approaches. An additional train will also be travelling to Radeburg on Friday morning." SDG would ask you to call 035207 / 89 29 0 to register for the photo tour. 36 trains will be travelling along the line during the weekend, including the Royal Saxon State Railways train and the train from the era of the German Reichsbahn.
