Expansion of Meißner Straße between Rennerberg Straße and Dr.-Külz-Straße

20.12.2019

Shortly before the Christmas holidays, this complex construction project made equally visible progress in road construction in addition to the now single-track commissioning of the tramway.
The construction of the pavements and the surfaces with concrete paving as well as almost all of the enclosures on the south side were completed in the weeks of December.
This means that the continuous traffic changeover to the south side can take place before the holidays and the new traffic facility can be used by motorised private transport, cyclists and pedestrians in addition to the tram.
In the hope that the weather will be open for construction, the construction companies will resume work next year from 6 January. This will initially involve the removal of the temporary asphalt pavements and old traffic areas. In addition, the new media lines will be laid, further fencing will be erected and traffic facilities will be constructed.
All parties involved in the construction project are aiming for completion by mid-2020 through joint and constant coordination, by which time the entire traffic system with pavements, carriageway, all installations, stops and railway facilities should be usable on both sides.

"This construction project is co-financed by tax revenue on the basis of the budget approved by the members of the Saxon state parliament."
