Election posters in the city

25.07.2019

The city received information from various sources that the election posters for the upcoming state election in Radebeul did not start on Monday, 22 July 2019, as generally expected, but in some cases earlier. The whistleblowers saw this as an infringement of the law. In addition to the CDU and the AfD, the early billposting also affected other parties and voter associations in some cases.
The immediate investigation into the matter has now been largely completed. As a result, however, we as the city administration unfortunately have to admit that the main mistake was ours. On the one hand, general billposting permits for the period from 22 July to 8 September 2019 were issued by official decision and, on the other hand, normal billposting for the period from 19 July to 15 September 2019 was also confirmed to one applicant (CDU) as part of the confirmation of large poster sites on municipal land. This was done independently of each other by two different offices; there was no internal coordination.
As a result, the CDU began putting up posters on Friday, 19 July 2019, and other parties and voter associations immediately followed suit.
As a city, we very much regret this mistake and apologise to all those affected. We will take appropriate organisational precautions to ensure that this is avoided in future.
"We apologise to those who were accused of breaking the law as a result of our mistake, and we apologise to those who feel disadvantaged by our mistake when it comes to putting up election posters." explains Mayor Bert Wendsche (non-party)
